Day12

Day 12 started very slowly. No one wanted to get up too early.  After our 7.4 mile hike down the mountain yesterday everyone moved a bit slowly. But, even sore, we have to move on. Once again, the day started with hot coffee, tea, and hot chocolate made on the pocket rocket. After packing up, it was on to breakfast at Bubbas BBQ. This is another place that serves way more food than I can eat. I had a Chorizo sausage and egg wrap. Extremely good. There were also pancakes, and omelets. All very good.
After Bubbas we headed to Grand Teton Village again for Jim, Doug, and Sandy’s jump off the mountain. Notice not mine or Pam’s. As we approached the Village we noticed no parasails in the air.  When we arrived at the village we went straight to the ticket counter for the parasail flights. As mentioned we saw no jumpers in the air. As luck would have it, the wind was too high for parasails, so none were going off until tomorrow. We would not be here tomorrow so…….Jim, Doug and Sandy get to live another day without parasiling.   Bummer…..
From here we went to the Grand Teton National Park.  We drove along Jenny’s lake and stopped at a scenic overlook where we could walk down to the water. We took several pictures here but can’t publish them because of bandwidth. I’ll publish them soon.
From the overlook we traveled to the boat dock and took a trip to the other side of Jenny lake. From the dock on the opposite shore, we hiked a mile up into the mountain to view the falls above the lake. The climb was not very difficult so we were all able to limp along quite well.
Jenny lake is a fresh water lake with fish in it. Question….That high in the mountains, how’d the fish get there? Just a thought.
After Jenny Lake it was on to Yellowstone Park. We made Yellowstone early enough to watch Old Faithful erupt. We even had time for ice cream. We stopped in the Inn at old faithful just to look around. That place is fantastic. The wood used in the construction was apparently all local and not much was changed from it’s natural shape.
More pictures here.
From here it was on to the local KOA for a game of musical campsites. As many of you know Jim doesn’t hear so well out of one ear. While registering for the campground, he thought the lady said 240, she actually said 242. We set up in 240 then after about an hour we were told we had to move because the site was already rented and paid for by someone else.. Site 242 was occupied by a couple who thought they were supposed to be there, but actually were supposed to be in 243. We told the KOA folks not to make them move  just let us move. We ended up in site 151. I have pictures of us moving the tents at around 1130 pm.
After all was settled, we had a cc and coke or beer, then went to bed for another really cold night.
