Day 12
So I remember what day this is.....
Sept 16
First mention.... another rescue point. After losing 2 days write up, on day 14 we stopped in
Carmel to try to catch up. We found a neat little place called Bistro 211,
Web address www.bistro21.com. Owner Jon Magnusson and our waitress were kind enough
to let me sit and use their wireless for a couple of hours to catch up on things. Once again we
lucked out...a nice little place, good food, friendly, accommodating hosts.....just what the
doctor ordered. For all you folks passing through Carmel, this is a good place to stop. People are friendly, foods good, and it won't break the bank.
On to the catch up.
Day 12
Today we find ourselves packing up to leave Yosemite.
It was a heck of a stop on this cross country trip of ours. Most of the roads for the last couple of days have left me with sore hands...I don't think I smashed my hand grips yet, but it must have been close.
The scenery was beyond description, you just have to see it for yourselves. The photos don't do the place justice. Every thing is just massive. El Capitain at night carried a host of small lights from the climbers camping in climbing hammocks on the vertical walls. The stars at night were unlike anything we see from home. Sorry, no pictures, I tried, my camera won't take night sky pics. Probably because I don't know how to make it. I'll keep looking. Too bad.

Last picture of us at Yosemite.
On the road again
We finally stopped for the night at the KOA Lake Saint Margarita. Never did see the lake. It was a bit of a dust bowl. We went up the wrong road to the camp site and ended up on a dirt road. Jim nearly lost it but managed to stay upright. When we got to the camp site Doug had a minor misshap in the dust and sand.
Nothing serious, mostly injured dignity.
Probably leftover effects from Half Dome!
After a delightful meal of hot dogs and beer, it was time to turn in.
I stayed up a little longer to read. Sometime after dark a creature rubbed against my foot. After looking at the computer screen it took a minute for my eyes to adjust to the dark to see who my new buddy was, sho' nuff' it was a skunk. I slowly got up from the bench and kept my light on him until he wandered off into the rest of the campground.
It looks like ya'll'er havin' an awesome trip. I love reading the daily blog and the pictures are excellent. Thanks for taking the time to share this as I enjoy the journey from the comfort of my computer chair.
ReplyDeleteI did a couple of years traveling the western U.S. in an RV, and it was an amazing adventure, so I can only imagine all the fun for you now.
Stay safe, take care, *hugs* I'm prayin' for perfect weather for the rest of your trip.

Molly,
ReplyDeleteYou have indeed led an interesting life. to me traveling the west for a year or two would be the best thing I could think of. This trip, for us just scratches the surface. This is not meant to be a trip that says we've seen it all. It is just supposed to show how much there is to see.
Thanks for staying with us.
Love to have you along.
