Day 22
This morning we woke up in Shingletown CA. Not a bad nights rest I must admit. Jim and Pam of course got the Perfect sleeper straw campsite, while Doug and I got the same old tent sites.
Today is volcano day. We came across the Lassen Volcanic National Park. We saw this while on yesterdays ride and decided it rated a visit. State Rt. 89 ran right through the park.
For motorcycles or even autos, 89 is a good ride.
We drove to the Volcano park, stopped at the visitors center and saw much of the historical information on display there.
There are many hiking trails to choose from, we decided to take the one leading to "Bumpass Hell". This is an area of boiling water, boiling mud pits, steaming fumaroles, and just general bad stuff. Besides, it was the shortest hike available.
Told you this was the easy trail.
On the road again.
Leaving Lassen Volcanic National Park.
From here, Pam and Jim head to the Hotel in Reno, the Boomtown Resort and Casino, Doug and I head to our lakeside paradise.
The last few moments of Pams ride.
Our lakeside paradise....not exactly..This is Lahontan State Rec. Area.
This is home for the night.
Oh boy.....
274 miles today
As an additional comment for day 20
This picture of Doug was captured outside of a .......
Jim saw this and said"Quick, get a picture of this" Doug's buying flowers.
Of course I shot the picture. When Doug came back, we laughed a bit about this and I told Jim and Pam that I couldn't say a word because I had sent Marie flowers a couple of days ago. At this Pam poked Jim and said "So you're the only one" I think Jims answer was something like I didn't have to I brought you all the way out here with me. Good cover Jim.....
