It's finally here. We leave in the morning. I'll post some pictures of the bikes and maybe one or two of the folks going on this hare brained adventure. I call it hare brained, but I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Started packing up this afternoon, it's amazing how much stuff you can get on a bike. Unfortunately I still have a half ton of stuff I would like to bring. No....I won't be packing a razor, gotta sacrifice some where. The fruit snacks and chocolate granola bars stay though. Need to keep this old body powered up some how.
I borrowed my son's 2 man tent for this trip. My tent was a shade too big. No need for a 2 room 8 man tent on this journey.
Doug and Jim both have real touring bikes. They have all the boxes and luggage racks you could ever want. You won't even be able to tell they're packed for a trip. Me on the other hand, I'll be like the Beverly Hillbilly's movin' in. "Grandma' you ride up on top...."
I have a six inch square luggage rack on the back, that's where the rockin' chairs goin'.
Put my wind shield on today, I'm still not sure I like it. It looks ok, I've just never ridden with one before and it's a little strange. I'll probably be very thankful to have it the first time we run into cold weather. We'll see how that goes.
On another note, with the help of youngest son, Marie got the two bedrooms living room and hall sanded this week. Thanks Brian, really...thanks, that was a big job. It looks great too!
Well, it's time for some last minute gear checks. No matter how many times I check things, I know some where around St. Louis, I'm going to find out I left something very important at home. Don't know what it is yet, I just know it will be important, and probably expensive.
Such is life.
